Weebly blocked Ukraine indiscriminately

I run two perfectly legitimate business in Ukraine, both of which are highly dependent on our website providing our customers with directions, contact info, etc. Our sites have been on Weebly for 7 years. Without notice, reason or logic, Weebly (I recently found out) BLOCKED ALL TRAFFIC FROM UKRAINE!!! They could not even bother notifying their clientbase!!!

DO NOT TRUST WEEBLY WITH YOUR BUSINESS OR PERSONAL MATTERS. They don't care.

Hello Adam @Adam,

I have done exactly that - I have responded to my ticket with you (no response), contacted Weebly via FB messenger (no response), resorted to posts on various FB pages (no reponse) and even here (no informative response). I don't know how many customers you have in Ukraine, but I would guess thousands, all of which (and their customers in turn) are suffering from your indiscriminatory decision to block all UA traffic. You did not even bother letting your customers know. I have been hosting several legit websites with you for seven years - now my customers cannot access them - and for what reason? Why are you punishing Ukrainian traffic and what are we all to do now???

@Adam

... And... the defeaning sound of silence from all channels and all possible ways of reaching out to Weebly continues...

I trust all of your current and propsective paying clients will understand how you behave with your customers.

Ok - please follow up on your ticket about that. It's possible the charge for your service might be too old to refund, though.

@Adam what's the point of opening tickets or contacting Weebly at all when we all just get ignored??? You treat your customers like dirt and in response to my numerous attempts at getting a response from Weebly, I've receive ZERO. I honestly can't believe that this is happening in the 21st century. You and your entire company should be ashamed of yourselves. You're sitting back in your 'support centre', thinking that you're treating "eastern europeans" like crap and they don't really need a response. Would you treat your US customers the same? I am absolutely certain that you would not. The irony is that I am not from Ukraine, but I do business here, and your policy of treating all of us like dirt based on some sort of regional profiling will severely backfire.

Hi @RomanfromKyiv,

Very sorry about the issues this has caused you and your business. I also apologize for the wait on a response. I was able to find your ticket and I have messaged our policy team and asked them to expedite this request. Someone will be replying back to your ticket very shortly. Thank you for your patience. If you don't get a response back, please let me know and I will continue to follow up on this issue for you.

I have also requested a refund. It's only fair given how much headache and unexpected expenses this has cost me (lost business, setting up a new site). After TWO WEEKS of waiting, here's Weebly response:

"We are terribly sorry to inform you of this, however, we are unable to offer a refund for the account. Not because we do not want to, but because we simply cannot. The charges in your account are too old to refund and it's not even possible for our payment processors to do so.

Terribly sorry again for this inconvenience and very difficult issue. If it were up to us we would provide a much better solution but due to the nature of the current issues at hand. We have had to decide otherwise until further notice. Hopefully, in the future, there will be a much better solution.

Thank you!

I paid for two years in advance and now they're telling me that I can't get a refunded for a whole year's worth of services?! Dissappointing.

Shame on Weebly! I just found out this morning that my developers in Ukraine can't access my site any more. They have some limited success depending on what IP address they're working from, but requiring them to go through a VPN (very slow) to work on my site is not an adequate solution.

What a terrible IT policy Weebly! I'll be transfering my account to another provider since you secretly changed the terms of your service agreement without notification. This is illegal in many states and once my site is transferred, I will be requesting a full refund!

In case anyone doesn't already know, weebly blocks traffic from the Ukraine and many other countries from accessing websites on their platform. I found this out in the most unfortunate way as I hired developers in Ukraine to help work on my website. I reached out to Weebly support and they said there is nothing they can do as they cannot make security exceptions for individual accounts. They confirmed they block traffic from the Ukraine along with many other countries.

As a side note, this raises some very serious questions regarding Weebly security. If their security response is to block all traffic indescriminately then I question whether their IT department understands security well enough to actually protect their platform. I've worked with multiple providers for over 15 years and I've never heard of such a security policy.

This is a HORRIBLE business practice and I'm now working to move my site off Weebly asap. I will also be requesting a refund and if unable to accomplish it, will be fighting the credit card charges.

They dont care man. Chat support dont care. No body at Weebly cares. The last time my wife tried to get help on the chat service she ended up in tears because the guy on the chat was so rude and careless with her request. This is how these guys do business. The best thing you can do is tell literally everybody you know not to use Weebly. Tell the truth, how they treat people. Only amatuers treat customers like this. I think we all know Weebly (even though bought by Square) are headed for termination.

I'm sincerely sorry your wife had that experience. Smiley Sad The reps really do not have any additional information to provide but should have offered to at least escalate her request to the policy team. Even though the policy team has limited information as well, they can check to see if there are any refunds that can be processed and can verify if they are able to assist with archiving the site or transferring domain registration out of the account. I'm really sorry again that this is happening to you. It's a very difficult situation for all.

I’ve been with Weebly for many years, but Weebly decided to block traffic my site does not open in Russia, although my main customers are from this region.

But my previous domain, was registered in Doteasy and redirected to Weebly, worked fine in all countries?

Although maybe it was before Weebly decided to block traffic? it was two years ago.

Now they say that even if I again register a domain in another place and redirect to Weebly, the site will still not work

Does anyone know if this is so?

thanks

Hi @Yury Yes, at this time the Weebly servers are not accessible from Russia. If you point your domain to our IP address (servers) the domain would not be able to load your site. I'm very sorry about that. I recommend looking for a hosting company that is accessible where you need it to be. Then you can connect your domain name to the newly hosted site.
