I am using the PRO packet of weebly. I am planing to open a new weebly account and would need a https domain (SSL).
I saw that is only offered with the business version of weebly. But I do not need all the additional features of the business version, only the SSL feature. Is there a possibility to solve the problem?
For example: is it possible to register with another site my https domain and then map it to my weebly starter website (for example)?
Can you privide help?
Thank you and Best Regards

I wanted to use SSL for the whole project/website. I thought it might be possible to pay for the SSL 70$ per year in addition to my PRO packet.
But I understand that is not possible.
Any chance you will revisit this (seemingly outdated) policy soon and will bring SSL security down from the ecommerce tier? SSL (well, TLS, really) is no longer a thing that is only necessary for ecommerce. It is strongly recommended for all sites: Google already penalizes sites that are not running over https, and Chrome will start raising warning flags in the very near future. We have no need for any of the advanced ecommerce features that you offer, but would love to activate secure communications with our users. There are even now free services (e.g. https://letsencrypt.org/) that reduce or eliminate most of the cost associated with obtaining a certificate for enabling secure communications. Please, can you bring this down a tier (or two or three)?
I would like to reinforce the point that @sdw made. Having SSL enabled is best practice for SEO regardless of whether you have an ecommerce site. I would gladly pay for the added feature but have no need to upgrade to the Business Plan. It's unfortunate to have to accept that using Weebly will mean that you can't adhere to several important SEO best-practices.
I submitted a feature request with the hope that there will be enough support to encourage Weebly to add this option as an add-on for lower packages.
Saw this past ticket and wanted to re-surface as I recently had the exact conversation with Weebly via their twitter (which 'thank you' btw, as your team is always very prompt to reply/support there) .. I received some support and our company is grateful, but ultimately a 'no ETA' on making ssl available for non other than the Business plan, which we have no use for the e-commerce features. We have close to 40 sites hosted on weebly, and to upgrade to ssl will be a HUGE increase in monthly costs, which only forces us to start considering competitors who offer ssl for free or much more cost effectively. We really enjoy the Weebly team, tools, platform, and resources - hopefully more details and another pricing option is available soon for ssl other than e-commerce.
Looks like it is time for you all to seriously reconsider this backward policy, and fast: https://engineering.squarespace.com/blog/2016/implementing-ssl-tls-for-all-squarespace-sites
Squarespace has launched free TLS for all paying customers, powered by LetsEncrypt. If I don't see some changes here very soon, it looks like I may have to switch providers.
I fully agree with the above comments. We use Weebly for several clients: bigger and smaller ones. Some of those clients use the business package, others have no need (yet) of these extra features. However from 2017 Google will notify users that sites are insecure if they don't have SSL. It will be the standard tomorrow. If Weebly wants to maintain its position as a trustworthy and strong webpartner for small businesses, it's very important that SSL is a standard service as well following the market trend, like a mobile version is today. I hope this really is top of mind! It is for us, but not worth paying € 25/month for a normal/standard website.
