Problems with First Data - wanting to switch

Right now we use Square for when our First Data processor goes down. The fees they (First Data) charge are outrageous and even if we don't have charges with them they have a minimum monthly fee.  I'm wondering 2 things - if we switch to Square -

Is Square the actual merchant processor and we can remove our First Data account?

Can debit customers use their chip card and still add a tip?

Thanks!

there are millions of people that use Square as their sole credit card provider.  We do and have processed over 5 million with Square.  depending on your current credit card volume and average sale total you may be eligible for custom rates to help save even more (in general a half million in credit card sales to start with but each account is different), we are currently running a lower custom rate.

Yes, the First Data bills can get quite high with all the different reward card fees and monthly fees etc.   That's why we switched to the straightforward pricing.

Yes, Debit and Credit card users can leave a tip, but not cash and check for some reason.  all cards are currently processed as credit cards so they will act the same during the transaction process.

Glad to hear you're interested in switching to Square @WeatFree and thanks so much for chiming in @VanKalkerFarms

The great thing about Square is that we do everything in house, and that's part of what sets us apart from most other processors.

Hardware, software, and payment processing are all built and done by Square when you partner with us for your business, so no need to keep an additional merchant service if you end up making the switch.

Debit cards are ran just the same as credit cards, so your customers will absolutely have the ability to tip.
