Why is it, that you can't totally secure your funds from disputes. Especially if there over $250. If you swipe the card and they sign what other protection does the seller have. Very upsetting that months after a transaction happened, their bank can put a hold on your funds... anyone has a resolution

You can not stop a dispute from being filed or stop the funds from being held during a dispute, this is an industry standard. If they didn't hold the disputed funds in a secure account there wouldn't be any way to know that the funds will be there at dispute settlement.
Disputes suck as a business owner. But they happen every day, some large companies have to have teams to handle the daily disputes. Every Credit Card processor has to follow the dispute process. Unfortunately for us as the business owners the customer's credit card has all the decision making power, all you can do is provide all the documentation that you can for the transaction in question.
