Has this been fixed? IF not, do you have a time frame expected? I'm considering upgrading to a commerce solution on Weebly, but if it won't work to have options, I'll need to look elsewhere, because it's an important part of what we are doing....

Yes, Weebly team have fixed the bug, there option system is actually very versatile as you can type your own categories and apply basically any variable.
