started with a free site, plan to upgrade but have questions

I am trying to set up an online store for my son who is a coin dealer. Recently, I tried another program on the internet and wasted a lot of time and money trying to get the site to work.  The support FAQs were outdated and didn't match what I was actually seeing on my site. Chat help was okay but as soon as one problem was fixed, another appeared.  I don't need a super fancy site and the program I tried would not allow me to do some things that are fairly simple--such as create an HTML table.  I have created many websites in the past but never had the kind of problems I had with this other company.  So, I am trying to move slowly into using Weebly.  I signed up for a free site and was surprised to see some of the controls for setting up a store online.  I have been able to play with those tools.  Although when I tried to upload a csv file of products, the upload failed.  I was able to add a product manually.  I don't know if the failure was due to a timeout or because I did not yet upgrade the site.

Questions:  Will I be able to transfer my domain name?  How long does it take to do it?

I have chosen a very plain template--is it possible to set an image as the background for all the pages in the                      site?  If so, how?

Can I set default fonts and colors for the site regardless of what the template has already created?

Can I create an email using the domain name?  Is that part of the basic template? Or do I need to add an                        App?

Although I am setting this site up for my son, he will eventually be taking care of it himself. How do I add him                    as a site editor?

I hope someone can help with these questions.

TIA

MaryLou

Hi @stormcastle! Thanks for giving Weebly a chance for your site. You can use your domain with your site in two different ways. One is to update the DNS to point to Weebly:

http://hc.weebly.com/hc/en-us/articles/201372693-How-to-Use-a-Domain-You-Purchased-Elsewhere

The other way is to transfer the domain so renew and manage it directly through us (.com, .net, and .org domains only for this option):

http://hc.weebly.com/hc/en-us/articles/216649697

Full transfers usually take around a week or so to complete; DNS updates for the first option are usually fully propagated within a day or two.

See this guide in our Help Center on setting background images. You can use the same image across the site, or use different images on different pages (the first article shows how to save them to multiple pages, and the second is more about changing images in general):

https://hc.weebly.com/hc/en-us/articles/227119508-Customize-Your-Backgrounds

We offer integration with G Suite for email with any domain used with a site. This is a separate service which costs $49 a year:

And lastly you can add your son as an administrator of the site so he can manage it from his own Weebly account:
