If I remember correctly you have to add some META tags for Twitter cards to work. Did you add those to your site @whitemonkey?

hi..... @Adam found solutions..!!

add some meta codes

https://developer.twitter.com/en/docs/tweets/optimize-with-cards/overview/summary-card-with-large-im...

into an embed element, fill in ur own details,   publish ur site, then validate ur page:

https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator

then on ur site, click on the TWEET icon, ( using twitter icon from weebly app center)

et voila.....   and now i get:

image

so happy...

Nice! I'm glad that works with the Embed Code element - it should make it easier to use with individual blog posts.

Thanks for taking the time to do that! Interesting that you need the app installed. I wonder if it adds something else to your site header.

@Adam     thanks for  adding as a solution !!!!!

No idea      maybe there is a delay  when u have enabled the twitter sharing on the BLOG and click on the TWEET icon.    i should test it more..... but it did not show up... but using the TWITTER BUTTONS and SOCIAL ICONS, it worked imed..

and i was talking to @Sundownalpacas    and learnt that one can not drag elements  like EMBED CODE to the store page...   as the TWITTER icon button on a product page when clicked, just loaded the url on Twitter.... no image attached.........   another project i guess??

That makes sense, since the Twitter icon in the social element is just meant to link to your Twitter account rather than be used to share a tweet. The twitter option you see when publishing a blog post or your site should include the image, though, since that is actually sharing the page to Twitter.

UP DATE     @Adam    my mistake  with that    ... when enabling the TWITTER SHARE on the BLOG post settings....   i have only added the TWITTER CARDS to the Sierra Leone VISA post     which is a standard page  not a blog page... duh   sorry about that...

but just confirmed      the blog post.... when i have enabled the twitter share button.....  and clicked....... the image is not attached     as i have not set up the TWITTER CARDS    . see image below......   will add the TWITTER CARDS to blog post tomorrow

@Adam  and @Bernadette

OK an up date......  i added twitter cards  to the blog post...and i enabled TWITTER SHARE in SETTINGS > BLOG  >BLOGGING WITH WEEBLY (my feed name)...   and when i hit share  i get this:

image

the url is incorrect      the posts url is:  https://www.nomadicbackpacker.com/blogging-with-weebly/how-to-add-twitter-cards-to-your-weebly-blog

thats ok for me as i can correct it  but when others TWEET my post it wuill just give the url sans image...  SO i up dated my blog post and recomend adding the TwitterButtons app....and dragging the  TWITTER SHARE element to the page,   on blog posts and standard pages:

image

im happy i got it working    Smiley Happy))))))

Thanks for the update, @whitemonkey. I'm curious, if you went ahead and shared it using our own sharing what did the tweet look like? I'm wonder if it's just the preview that we show that looks that way.

@Adam    sharing blog post normally without TWITTER CARDS added to the post    will give  just the (correct) url  no image,   when enabling TWITTER  from SETTINGS > BLOG .. as expected

but when sharing/tweeted   with the twitter cards added, when enabling Twitter from SETTINGS > BLOG  gave the false url...   it replaced my 'blogging-with-weebly'    with a date   rendering the posts url incorrect

when  adding the TWITTER BUTTONS element and dragging that...   adding the posts URL...   it worked A OK

and when i publish the post with TWITTER CARDS then publish the site... and SHARE directly from the POST PUBLISHED pop up   i get this:

again with false url

That URL should actually work, although it's not the "pretty" version that most people would prefer. Weird how it uses that when you have your meta tags in the post.
