What is the difference between the free card reader and the not free one

The not free has a chip reader and will accept chip cards. However, I would not recommend that reader because it has to be charged and dies fast if left in your phone. I would get the contactless chip reader instead if you want to take cards via chip. The free reader is only a swipe reader and will accept all cards.

Yes, you have two options. The contactless Reader comes with a swipe card reader. Two pieces of hardware but will work for both. The Chip Card reader is one piece of hardware and also does both. I recomend the Contactless reader, but make sure it is compatible with your device.
