I am currently running a restaurant with square pos. We are trying to promote buy 1 get second half off, so when we select 2 item it will add on and shows combined quantity. Therefore, when we apply discount it calculate 50% of the total instead from single item. Is there a better option to perform this task?

If you select the same item back to back or adjust the quantity of the item it will leave it on the same line with the qty of X. If you select the item then another and then the first item again they will be on separate lines.

You can apply a $ off discount. This can't be done at the item level, it is on the total sale. You can also just change your discount to 25% off instead of 50% off.
