Square Reader on Insignia Flex (Android 5.0) Table...

Hi,

I have two older (2+ years) swipe readers that work just fine on my iPhone and iPad. They won't work on this Android Tablet (although I can take payments manually through the App just fine.)

I realize there is a list of "supported" Android devices, but it doesn't seem very comprehensive. And several reviews posted for the Insignia Tablet said they use the readers just fine on theirs? What could be the issue? Is there a newer reader I need?

Seems like you've got a workhorse in those readers. This magstripe reader troubleshooting guide may help you out (https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5203-square-magstripe-reader-troubleshooting) but yes, we certainly encourage you to upgrade to our newest reader (https://squareup.com/shop/reader-contactless-chip).
