tracking sales at one-off sales events... temporary locations?

We are a business that sells small-batch soda syrups and shrubs. We run a small store front, an online shop, have sales in some grocery chains and small shops, and we do a LOT of one-off maker/artisan events, holiday markets, occasionally farmers market, and industry events. We make a lot of money on these events but we would like to track inventory and sales more effectively. Has anyone added "locations" for one-off sales events. Or is it worth creating a price variation with inventory for these events? What have others done to track sales at specific one-off (or irregular) events (other than by employee/device). Thanks in advance~

Hi @burlybeverages, welcome to the seller community!

Thanks for bringing this up—we don't currently offer an automated temporary location setting with Point of Sale, but you might consider creating a modifier for a location that you'd like to track.

The modifier details will be available in both your Item Sales and Transactions CSV reports. You would then be able to view and work with these details as needed in Excel or other spreadsheet software.

Otherwise, depending on the number of locations you need to manage, creating a location for each event will surface this information within the online Square Dashboard reports.

We've also partnered with a number of reporting services who may be able to offer a more streamlined solution. For more details, head over to the App Marketplace > Items & Inventory.

Hope this helps get you in the right direction, and rest assured that I'll be sharing your post with our Point of Sale team. There is always room to improve visibility in reporting. If you have any other questions or if any sellers have insight to share, please don't hesitate to chime in!
