Solved: Clean url for uploaded files

Hi !

I have to use pdf files for some of my website pages.

But the automatically generated URL is a complicated one, such as :

mydomain.com/uploads/8/9/7/6/89762881/infos_pratiques.pdf

I believe this is not great for SEO. Is there a simple way to change the URL to something simplier, such as :

mydomain.com/infos_pratiques.pdf ?

I don't think there's a way without development changes to make a shorter URL like that. It looks ugly for us but I'm not sure what SEO impact it would have as long as the file name itself is something readable by Google.

I can see how it would be nice to have a cleaner looking URL though - you could post that to Vote on Features if you haven't yet, @Paul_S:

i am having a problem uploading files with same name in different pages, as the file is replaced in all pages.

is there any possible solution for this issue?

I think the simplest solution is to give your files a different name for different pages. You could add the page name to the end of the file so you know which goes to which page.

So we cannot edit the photo URL? its just sloppy

When I just searched this topic, it is listed as SOLVED! but it is not solved. When you look at the responses you see there is no solution. I don't know what the reason for this might be, but it makes my website look clunky, especially f I want to send an email pointing to a new article.
