How can I get my new chip/magstripe reader to update?

How to update a new chip/magstripe reader. Reader won't fully update.

Hello.

 

The updates should complete automatically without delay, however if you're running into trouble try deleting and reinstalling the Square Register app. Also, be sure you're in an area with strong internet connectivity. 

 

If this doesn't help, let me know and I can investigate a bit more.

My reader won't update, I just tried I still have the 2.7.87 version....help

Hi @Towncardude

 

Reader updates will be prompted automatically, so the version you have should be the latest version for your reader. 

 

Was there anything prompting you for an update?

No not exactly.. I just heard there was a newer version and thought that if I un- installed and reinstalled the app it would automatically update but it did not... It actually works fine.. but clearly is the 2.7.87 version

@Towncardude You should be good to go since all firmware updates are prompted automatically and you seem to have the latest version.
