Hi. We are currently developing a website in Weebly and want to show a specific image/OG image when pasting links from the site.
We went to the “header code” section of the individual page and added this code:
<meta property="og:image" content="https://www.socialfoxer.com/uploads/1/3/2/3/13237498/fitness_orig.png" />
<meta property="og:url" content="https://www.socialfoxer.com/fitness.html" />
It didn’t seem to work though.
When we paste this code to the header for the whole site via “Settings > SEO > Header Code” it seems to work to show the same image on all pages but it’s not working to choose a unique image for individual pages.
Just to clarify, you've also tried adding that for the Header Code field for a particular page on the Pages tab?
That is correct. Actually, further testing suggests that the code is being ignored whether we do it on an individual page or the whole site. It seems that a shared link just populates with the first image on that particular page.
How can we override this behavior and choose more appropriate images for each page?
I think code addeding to the Header Code field is placed after other code, so Facebook probably sees it second. The only way I can think of to make sure this meta tag is first is to actually add it to each page template right after the <head> tag. I wouldn't do that unless you're familiar with HTML and CSS, and are okay with having a custom theme (these don't receive theme updates once customized).
