Interesting, but what do you mean people can't prepay? Playing around with Reserve with Google, I see that pretty much any business currently using it to take reservations requires payment as part of the booking process.

Or are you saying this is a limitation of the integration with Square Appointments? In other words, such payments would be done through Google rather than Square?

You're right that Reserve with Google does generally have support for pre-payments, and that this is a limitation of the integration with Square Appointments. Supporting prepayments will take some time-- we plan to make this work, but in the meantime we wanted to allow those sellers who do not need prepayments to be able to start using the feature ASAP.

@Devon ,this is exciting news! I've been looking at moving my husband's massage therapy practice to Acuity for scheduling because Square Appointments doesn't have Google Analytics integration, but now I'm hoping there's cause to hold off on the move.

We don't currently embed Square Appointments on his site, instead we send people to squareup.com. Could we instead send people to our claimed Google business to make their appointment and would this allow Google Analytics to understand our pre-sales/appointments?

I want to understand ROI on marketing efforts, which is why I've been looking at Acuity. Do you see this development helping with that need immediately with the release this month or might it be in the near future? I'm not familiar enough with the Google Business functionality in Maps or Search to know if this is a no-brainer. 😉

@sunspoter sorry for the delayed reply! I had to ask our partners at Google about your question. There is a dashboard that you can access from Google My Business, where you can see certain information like bookings made through Reserve with Google, and revenue generated through the feature. If you have any requests for what kind of other analytics you'd like to see on that dashboard, our partners at Google would love to hear your feedback!

As for Square Appointments, you're right that we do not yet have any way for you to see performance or analytics for your Booking Site. This is definitely something we've heard from sellers, and it's on our radar, but we haven't yet prioritized making this happen. Just saw this pop up this morning on our account. There is one major issue that I think needs to either be addressed as a "restriction" or just fixed altogether.

The only services that integrate with Google currently are "fixed price" services. Any service that is free, is a starting price, or is set to say something like "Call Us", is not recognized by Google. I'm sure that you can understand how misleading this might be for new customers who try to book through Google and only see a small subset of services. Any chance that this will be fixed?

BTW, I was one of the accounts who didn't have to opt in to this feature, I was automatically added.

I've shared your feedback with the Appointments team — very sorry for any confusion this has caused to your clients. If you'd prefer you can turn off Reserve with Google from your online Appointments Dashboard until this feature is better suited to you and your business.

I'm looking at my Google Listing and seeing the booking button, but it's a little... unassuming? It shows up as "www.squareup.com" with almost no context (outside of the little button off to the side). Is there a way to customize what shows in that text box? Like maybe have it say "Book Now!", or "Reserve an appointment".

I definitly appreciate the new Google interaction with Square but the lack of abilty to accecpt or deny appointments is definitly an issue as well as the inablity to book multiple serverices as once..  Hopfully in future updates these limitations will be resolved.

I have my appointments set as I have to approve all appointments that come through.  Why are they being automatically accepted when people book using Google Reserve?  How do I stop this?? Just delete it off Google and if so.. how? 

Hi there @txgroomer - when using Reserve with Google in conjunction with Square Appointments, appointments scheduled through Reserve with Google will be automatically accepted upon booking. I've moved your post over to this Product Update page so you can see the directions for deactivating Reserve with Google, which will stop these appointments from being automatically accepted.

I agree with @txgroomer.  There is a reason I mandate that I must approve all online booking, and that is WITH them securing a credit card on file.  Reserve with Google just allowed a long appointment to be booked without allowing me to review it and now I can't follow through with a no-show fee since they don't allow this.  I have effectively removed permission from Reserve with Google.  What a pain.  Incredibly disappointed in this feature.

I just had an appointment booked through google on a day with zero availability. I was unaware of the other limitations like not securing no-show protection or being able to approve appointments as usual. But how was a customer able to book an appointment when the salon is closed?!? 😡

I have staff not displayed on my booking pages, but they display in Google Reserve. Is there a way to turn this off for staff privacy? Thanks

Are these staff active but not assigned to any services available through Appointments? If so, try disabling them from within Square Appointments.

Ok, thanks for confirming. Have you contacted Google by chance? It's possible they might have some idea why that is happening when everything looks to be set up fine within Square.
