New account before linking bank?

I work with a small nonprofit and I got the reader a few days ago so we can sell souvenirs and possibly accept donations through Square.

We have a big big event this weekend and would like to begin using it but for us to properly link the account we would need the board of directors to vote on it which is probably too late to accomplish by Friday.

Can i begin using the reader without linking our bank? Will the money received be held in some square account limbo until we do?

I would make sure your account is fully setup and verified before using it.

Hey @ButnerMuseum - welcome to Square!

You can accept payments before linking a bank to your Square account. We would hold the funds until the bank is linked. However, @RHatch makes a really good point - since you are operating this account on behalf of an organization, it may be best to hold off. It could present a challenge in accessing the funds if the board of directors at your organization are not supportive of this decision.
