Square Appointments - Mobile Staff and Display Name issues

@Wyeth et al, regarding the "free for one user" tier:

 

If a "staff member" / "employee" is registered as a "Mobile (free)" user, will my subscription still be free? or will they count as 2-5 employees? $50 per month is WAY beyond my budget.

 

There is an inherent design flaw in the staff name display which has required me to create a second "employee" profile. I have set the profile to "Mobile (free)" but it doesn't seem to actually be free.

 

Here's the explanation: I prefer to use a nickname instead of my full legal name. Clients know me by this nickname, besides the standard identity/privacy concerns. When I created my Appointments account and did a test run, I saw Square displayed my full legal name on the user-facing booking page. I tried using the nickname field on my employee dashboard, but then my full nickname (first and last) appeared on the "book with" button  ("book with First Last" instead of "book with First"). This looked silly next to my other staff members' buttons which only show their first name ("book with First"). The only way I could solve this was to create a second profile for myself, using my nickname. Now it displays correctly and has a uniform appearance across all staff members. But it puts me in the 2-5 employee category.

 

Again, (1) please explain why "Mobile (free)" staff isn't showing up as "free" on my account subscription; and (2) fix the name display issue on your booking buttons so that they only display the first name of the nickname field instead of the entire nickname.

First, the Mobile Staff feature is free but it's for the Point of Sale app, not Square Appointments. For example, if you wanted someone to take payments on your behalf using the Point of Sale app you would invite them to create a Mobile Staff account so they could have their own log in, but with limited access to your account. Unfortunately, there isn't a Mobile Staff feature for Square Appointments. To add a member of staff to your online booking site, sign in to your Appointments Dashboard > click Staff and then click Add Employee.

 

Second, if you've entered a display name from the Staff section of your Appointments Dashboard (click Staff > click on your name > scroll down to Display Name) that's the only name that should appear on your online booking site. If you're seeing something else definitely call our team so an Appointments specialist can take a closer look.

@Helen It seems you don’t understand my display name issue. Please read again.

The problem is that the display name does not behave the same way as the regular First and Last name fields.

A simple fix may be to have two Display Name fields (for First and Last).

Regarding mobile employees, as I mentioned, I’ve already created and added additional employ. Mobile was an option (otherwise I could not have selected it or even known about it).

For users reading this and wanting a resolution, I thought I'd share that the "Mobile (Free)" option is no longer showing up as a choice on my Appointments dashboard. So either something was fixed or it magically fixed itself  😐
