blinking red light on chip/magstripe reader

The one light on my chip/magstripe reader blinks red when trying to charge it. Has it died?

Hi @DrSFG

Was your reader responding to being plugged in at all?

The blinking red light indicates that your battery is completely drained. Charging it over night should get it back up and running for you, however if it doesn't seem to be charging at all anymore, there might be another issue with the reader itself.

Well, I attached it to my iPad and it is being recognized. And for a short while it was showing amber, meaning it was charging, but then started to blink red. I'll try to sharge it over night and see what happens.

Yes, I'm aware of this. But if the reader had a dead battery, it should not have been recognized by the app. Happily, it seems to have righted itself and is now showing green. Thank you for your help.
