Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

Is there an option to create categories in Appointments? I have a rather long list of services and don't like that my clients have to scroll through everything to get to what they want. If not, is it a feature coming soon?

Thanks!

Re: Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

So, there is a way to do this, but it requires embedding the list on your own website.

In appointments, under online booking, website embed:

"View Advanced Options" button

"Create New Widget for [your company name]"

Give this widget a name - location, day of the week, etc. Whatever will help you know what is in the list.

You can select what staff are able to be booked - so you could limit it per location

You can select which services are to be included

Save

Now you will see the widget in the "Saved Custom Widget" list.

Click view the online booking page will open displaying only the staff and services you selected.

You can copy the link URL and either send it to clients, make a link on your business website, or embed the entire widget into your site. You can even embed several widget on the same page of your website to split up categories, dates/days, location, staff, etc, keeping all services on one page, just organized by categories. Or you can devote seperate pages to specific items/staff/etc. I created a google sites (in google drive) website to try this out. works beautifully with a google site. I haven't tried it with any other site yet.  It molds right into your webpage and keeps viewers on your site and not moving to the appointments page and missing all the other content on your website.

I hope this helps those that are really struggling with the need to have this all categorized and organized better. If you have any questions about what I've done here, please ask.

Re: Appointment Categories?

I see how that would be super useful, especially when you have a wide range of services offered under one roof. We don't have that option right now but we'll announce any updates as soon as they're available.

Why can’t I edit the order of my services?

Hey @Tren. It sounds like you might be trying to rearrange your services from the Appointments app? You can't change the order of your services from the app — but you can move them around from your online Appointments Dashboard. The Best Answer has the steps to edit the display order of your services

I am looking for a way to categorize my salon services in different categories, for example: HAIRCUTS, HAIR COLOR, WAXING, BRIDAL, ETC. All of my services are automatically filed under "un-categorized" and this does not help when looking to see which services are performed the most.

At this time Appointment Categories are a feature request, and we're continue to track this.

I would like to create categories for my long list of services but I am not finding anything on this. It would be great for my guests to easily search and find what they need within the category versus having to read through dozens of services to find what they need.

I'm trying to categorize my services into differnr folders so that they can get to the service they need easier without strolling through all services.

Hello @alishascruggs1! This is a feature request that we are tracking here. If you can arrange your services in categories we'll definitely let everyone know, it's a popular request!

Thank you for adding the Categories for Service Items, another way to improve this feature is to have them color coded on the Calendar as well as Grouped by Category on the booking site or widget so clients can skim the categories! Thank you for continuing to improve the use of Square Appointments.

Please add the ability to make sub-categories. I have a salon spa. I am very happy I can list features; sizes and types under one item listing such as a certain brand of shampoo and then all the sizes and various types of shampoo (volumizing, hydrating, smoothing, repair). However, it would make check-out so much easier if each brand could be a master category such as Moroccanoil (Brand) then types of product categories Shampoo/Conditioners, Styling Products, Treatments etc. Let me know when you add this feature. It seems fairly easy to do and I'm surprised it's not offered.
