Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

Is there an option to create categories in Appointments? I have a rather long list of services and don't like that my clients have to scroll through everything to get to what they want. If not, is it a feature coming soon?

So, there is a way to do this, but it requires embedding the list on your own website. 

In appointments, under online booking, website embed: 

"View Advanced Options" button

"Create New Widget for [your company name]"

Give this widget a name - location, day of the week, etc. Whatever will help you know what is in the list.

You can select what staff are able to be booked - so you could limit it per location

You can select which services are to be included

Save

Now you will see the widget in the "Saved Custom Widget" list.

Click view the online booking page will open displaying only the staff and services you selected. 

 

You can copy the link URL and either send it to clients, make a link on your business website, or embed the entire widget into your site. You can even embed several widget on the same page of your website to split up categories, dates/days, location, staff, etc, keeping all services on one page, just organized by categories. Or you can devote seperate pages to specific items/staff/etc. I created a google sites (in google drive) website to try this out. works beautifully with a google site. I haven't tried it with any other site yet.  It molds right into your webpage and keeps viewers on your site and not moving to the appointments page and missing all the other content on your website.

 

I hope this helps those that are really struggling with the need to have this all categorized and organized better. If you have any questions about what I've done here, please ask.

I see how that would be super useful, especially when you have a wide range of services offered under one roof. We don't have that option right now but we'll announce any updates as soon as they're available.

It sounds like you're using Square Appointments @Rachfoster3

 

To edit the display order of your services for your online booking site: 

  1. Navigate to the Appointments section of your online Dashboard.
  2. Click Online Booking > then click Visibilty & Display.
  3.  Drag and drop services up or down by clicking on the three horizontal lines on the left hand side:

 

Changes will be saved automatically! 

 

Note: At this time it's not possible to edit the display order from the Appointments app.

I have tried several times on iPhone and iPad will not allow me to move services

@Rachfoster3 To rearrange the order of your services you'll need to sign into your Square Dashboard using a computer or using the web browser from your iPad. It's not possible to rearrange services from the app at this time! I'll share your request for that ability with our Product Team

i was really disapointed to see that the services are uncategorized from the appointment app. I really need this option. Is there any update when this option will be available?

Hello @tpntoo, I'm afraid I don't have a timeline on when you'll be able to create categories for Appointments. Can you let us know a bit more about how this would help your business? Is it to organize your services or for reporting? Or both? That kind of detail is very useful for the Appointments Product team as they consider which features to build next.

Please update Appointment items to accept categories so that sales dont appear as "uncateorized' in the reports.

YES!  Please add categories to the services asap.  My main issue with them in a salon is when people are booking online.  They would have to scroll through all of the services to find the one they want.  If we had categories, they could narrow it down and make it easier to navigate.  I'm using Vagaro, but I'd love to switch to Square, but I can't do that until this change happens.  PLEASE!

My main reason for needing categories is for my salons online booking.  When someone is trying to book they have to scroll through all of the services just to find the one that they want.  If we had categories, they could narrow it down at least to "women" "men" "color" etc.  I can't move from Vagaro to Square until this change happens and I know a LOT of other salons have this issue also.  You guys would be on top if this was changed!  

Any news on this update!?  I'd love to switch to Square from Vagaro, but this lack of categories the only thing keeping me from switching!

We have the same problem. I have had to create my own "categories" as a service, then list individual services below & so on.  Currently, we have 56 service options to book... so quite a long list to wade through to find what you are looking for.   In addition, we are growing and adding more services & will be over 75 options soon!   Please add the option to create categories.  For our business it would be; Massage, Acupuncture, Packages, Facials, Add-ons, Float, Sauna, Ozone Therapy, O2 Lounge.  Categories will significantly improve our client booking experience.
