how to correct a bad import of customer data

We realized that after creating the crv file and uploading it to the system for our customer directory, that in a sorting error, some emails got interchanged and paired with the wrong customer.  It is a significant amount and to go in and fix it manually would take a rediculous amount of man hours. I am wondering if delete our whole customer directory and reload it with a clean file, will I lose any and all spend data on our customers. Does it reset our spend info associated with each customer back to starting from the beginning, or will it sync properly with the Square spend data once again?

Each customer that is in Square has been assigned a customer ID.  If you upload again without the customer ID associated with the customer it will most likely create a duplicate.  Now the system will find duplicates but the merge may not always work the way you want.   The best thing to do would be to export the data, edit it and re-upload it.  This way the customer ID's are with the customer information.

You can also test it out by just uploading one customer you know is currently incorrect and see what it does to make sure it is what you want.
