Hey everyone!

I’m excited to announce that we’ve rolled out a beta for accepting partial payments with Square Invoices!

This new feature will allow you to create a single invoice and track multiple payments on that invoice. This may also be useful for those of you who want to accept a deposit and collect the rest of the amount due later.

We know this is a feature many of you have been waiting for, so I hope you’ll help us test it out!

By using partial payments and providing us feedback, you will directly influence and improve the Square Invoices product. So please share your reactions and input.

whilst this does go some way to resolve the partial payments issue, it doesn't completely solve it for many of your users (see thread).

What is needed is the ability to allow our customers to make partial payments against a specific invoice. This will allow for the situations that a customer only plays the part of the invoice (for whatever reason), it will also cover people in my industry who need to allow their customer to make multiple payments at key stages of the project and those wishing to use the partial payment system to collect a deposit.

The offering you have provided only meets the final option, the ability to collect a deposit. It is good that this can be a percentage or a cash value. But, we do need this to go further.

@esthetig Thank you for your feedback. You are correct in that this feature allows a seller to take a upfront payment or deposits. This is the first release of this feature and we plan to add more functionalty in the feature.
