HTTPS Encryption / SSL Option for all Packages - SEO Best Practice

Now that Chrome has been updated to basically shame websites that are not secured, it would be good to have the option to purchase and enable HTTPS/SSL for any paid site since this is a best practice for SEO. I saw in another community post that there are no plans at this time to make this option available for anything below the Business package but I hope that is reconsidered if there is enough user support. Weebly is a great platform and keeps getting better, but it would be unfortunate to have to accept that using Weebly means that you will not be able to adhere to certain SEO best practices.

For reference, here is the post from the Google Webmaster Central Blog back in 2014: HTTPS as a ranking signal

Although ssl is technically not needed with e-commerce, I want the ability to use it on the starter and pro plan. Some of my clients are very cautious to go on a site that does not have the http security icon. can you please add this to the starter and pro plan, or at least make it an optional add-on for a reasonable price?

Thank you.

sorry, meant to say "without" e-commerce

Agreed; I just advised someone to complete one of my online forms; now I feel really bad. Especially since they are not secure!  Argh!!!!

Please fix this WEEBLY!!!

Weebly, your SSL certificate doesn't cover all versions of my domain!

https://www.example.com is supported

https://example.com is NOT supported.

Visitors who go directly to the non-www address in their browser get to see a warning from their browser that the site is unsafe. Although I agree it's rare for people to visit a site that way, it shouldn't ever give a safety warning for no reason and possibly be scaring away potential visitors to my site.

It's 2016, an SSL certificate should cover both versions of a domain. Please Weebly, fix this weird little issue by either updating your certificate or by allowing me the use of third-party certificates.

You're falling behind now Weebly: https://engineering.squarespace.com/blog/2016/implementing-ssl-tls-for-all-squarespace-sites

Squarespace has beat you to it, and done it right: free SSL for all thanks to letsencrypt. Time to start considering switching providers...

I too have just fallen foul of this.  Bought my SSL through another company but can't use it with Weebly apparently.  Ridiculous.  Might consider switching my account to another hosting company now.

Weebly should allow the use of 3rd party SSL certificates.

Would this not be in everybody's interest for internet security?

I agree. I bought one and did not realise I could not use it here!

Here is a September post from Google about their plans for beginning to label HTTP sites as non-secure in 2017.

Weebly, please make this a priority so all paid sites can have SSL certificates.
