points.com loyalty rewards integration

TPG (the points guy) and other travel blogs millennialized the ancient, closed, hidden, hoarded, boomer crredit card/points game aka "the legal kickback". Credit card points that transfer to airline and hotel programs that are worth 2-4 cents per point, way more than 1% cashback and worth potentially more than free items to your customers. Huge signup bonuses worth $1000+ have revived this game and have drawn a lot of millennial spend away from debit cards post-recession.

People who buy from food trucks who take square dont usually write off their puchase, so a free ITEM might be valuable to them. But B2B customers DO write off everything and many prefer NOT to get free items they could have written off. They prefer a kick back, in a legal way, that they can use for personal purposes.

Airline and hotel rewards points have been supplying past generations with this legal kickback for decades. Program points are traded via points.com which is also open to individuals.

This should be integrated with Square so our customers can take advantage of more meaningful "personal use" redemptions of our rewards earned on business expenses.

IRS says you dont have to declare and pay tax on rewards IF they are given after making a purchase. Same with free merchandise as a reward for making a purchase. You only have to declare and pay tax IF you give the reward FIRST, before a transaction is made.

So if our square loyalty program is set up for "stars" but we give customers the option of free miles or points that transfer to their other loyalty accounts, wouldn't that draw in MORE customers who already play this game?

And why not integrate square with points.com which already serves as the trading backbone between loyalty programs?

What do you think? Do you use these programs? Would you have a competitive edge if you could offer these rewards to your customers?
