Square tracks cash drawer amounts based on the information you're entering into the system when you begin a cash drawer, take cash transactions, record cash taken in and out, and close the drawer at the end of a day.

Any discrepancies you may see are based around the information entered into Square vs the actual amounts of cash taken. A common reason you may see a discrepancy is forgetting to close off a cash drawer at the end of a day, or not properly recording when cash is taken in/out of the drawer.
