Loyalty Program, Star awarded to 2nd card payment on split tender

We are currently doing a test run with the Loyalty Program and noticed an issue.  Our program is setup per visit with a $18 minimum purchase to earn a star.  We had two customers yesterday with a bill of $21 which was split evenly, the program gave the second card payment a star and nothing for the first payment.

 

Can you please explain the distribution of stars in a split tender on who earns it?

in a split transaction, all the rewards will go to the last card used.  this was a result of an error in previous versions of Square that would give rewards to all that paid via split payment even if the total earned 1 start, but each split tender got 1 star, netting them 3 stars total instead of 1 total.

 

in your specific case, there isn't a way to split 1/2 of a reward. so only the last person to be charged will get the rewards.

@VanKalkerFarms   So...giving the star to the last card payment is the current fix?  Sorry just trying to understand so we can explain this to our customers.

Hi @Hazehookahcafe - Are you on the latest version of POS? This split tender giving loyalty stars to both methods of payment should be fixed now. If you are on the latest version of POS, I suggest you give our team a call to troubleshoot this!

We are having customers on our square register with the square for retail app. currently earning double loyalty points if they split the tender with cash and a card or two cards.  What is the latest time frame for a fix on this issue?  It looks like it was an issue for several years and then maybe the last card or payment type would get the points, which normally would work for retail businesses like ours but maybe not for a restaurant.  It is awkward to remove points from accounts and recently realized this is an issue.  Also, online they are able to redeem multiple rewards but since getting the new register station we can award only 1 at a time,  It would be better if it was one way or another so we can structure our loyalty plan better.
