offline

I am interested in the offline mode due to my rural location and spotty internet services.  Do I have to be signed in to my app before I go into an area with no service?

Yes, you do need to be signed in and the offline mode needs to be enabled before losing an internet connection.

make sure you have read and understand all the details of offline mode like you have 72 hours from the transaction to get it connected online or the transaction is lost and that if a card is declined once brought back online it is at your responsibility to collect in another form as there will not be a way thru Square.

"Note: Chip card transactions and contactless (NFC) payments can’t be processed in Offline Mode when using the Contactless + Chip Reader. You’ll need an Internet connection to process these types of payments through Square. If you’re using the Square chip card reader, you can still accept magstripe payment cards through the magstripe slot in the reader while in Offline Mode."

@VanKalkerFarms - if you are offline using Terminal, can you still accept cards with a chip by swiping, or you can't accept any chip cards during that time?  Thanks!

you will have to use the magnetic swipe, all chip cards are not readable during offline mode as it needs an internet connection to work.
