I am trying to run some reports for my month end. What is the difference between a transaction and a customer? For example I had 239 visitors and 586 transactions. I am also trying to figure out how to calculate my return guests for each month going back to January.

without seeing the actual data that implies you had 239 uniquely identifiable customers make 586 purchases. I don't think it counts cash customers because there is no way to know they are different or repeat customers.

Hi @eatmaddies
As @@VanKalkerFarms alluded to, transactions indicate how many payments you accepted, while the customers indicate how many of your customers completed a payment.
Your transactions would be the higher number since some of your customers will complete multiple payments with you.
Check out the Customers Insights tab to view the New vs Returning Customers. Make sure you set the date selector box to "This Year" so it reflects the correct information.
