Additional store item images poor quality and multiple thumbnails show on hover

Hi all,

hopefully someone can help me ASAP with this.

I recently added new items to my Weebly site. For each item added the first image appears fine, good resolution and detail when zoomed in. However, any additional images for each item display as low res and display multiple (tile) thumbnails when zoomed (hovered) over!

All previous items and images are fine! This has only happened with the new items I added about a week ago.

All images are jpg and around 230KB. I can even switch images around and if I use one that is displaying poorly, as the first image it works fine!

I have re-uploaded images I have tried higher res png files (1.3MB) doesn't make a difference.

Images appear to work fine on the other pages, just not extra image files added to items in store.

One of the items in question is in the link is below if that helps!

Appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

That definitely looks odd. I've never come across an issue like this. Can you try to make a brand new product and upload just that image and let us know if the same thing happens. Also, it's more than just this one item? You mentioned item(s) plural, but I want to confirm. Thanks!

Hi Bernadette,

Thanks for your reply. I made a brand new product, and same issue. Multiple items are affected;

http://eyeballindustries.com/store/p19/stubbyholders.html

http://eyeballindustries.com/store/p20/Skull_King_T_Adult.html

http://eyeballindustries.com/store/p21/Skull_King_T_Youth.html

http://eyeballindustries.com/store/p18/E_Logo_Black_Crew_Sock_%282_Pairs%29.html

They are all items which I have added in just the last week. All previously entered items (around 5 months ago) are unaffected and display properly.

I use Weebly through Siteground hosting and a connected Square store. I have contacted Siteground support who referred me to this community feedback on Weebly poor image quality. I have never had any problems with Weebly and my images up until now. My files aren't to blame as I can switch around the item images and the results are the same. The first item image always works perfectly, but any additional item images for the same product display as low res and tiled thumbnails in window when hover used. These images all appear fine in the Weebly editor. It's only when viewed on the actual website that this appears. I have used different images and the same thing happens.

Siteground cleared the server cache and I have tried the same with my cache, no difference.

I need help with this ASAP.

Appreciate any help I can get.

If I can provide anything else to help with this please let me know.

Thanks again.

Hi @dlummerzheim I see you are logged into an account, but I do not see a website. I'm assuming this means you are also using Weebly through a third party? We are usually not able to assist with third party hosting errors, but I've been passing along the information to our engineers. Can you please post a link to one of your products showing the tiled behavior? Thanks in advance!

Hi Bernadette,

Thanks for looking into this. I have my website through ipower.com. Look at any item in my store at http://down2earthstudio.com/index.html/ and you can see examples of the problem. I saw in an 2016 post that this might have to do with uploading large images files, so I tried to make an image smaller (100kB) and uploaded that. But this didn't change anything, it has the same out-of-focus look as the other images.

Cheers, Dirk

It looks like our engineers have a pretty good idea of the cause, so hopefully it should be resolved soon.

@Bernadette I am also having the same issue as @eyeball. I access Weebly through Domain.com hosting. Examples:

https://therefinedboutique.com/store/p121/Every_Little_Thing_%7C_Dress.html

https://therefinedboutique.com/store/p79/Paxton%27s_Knitted_Summer_Boho_Bag.html

This seems to have been an issue for at least the last 30 days, if not longer. In the case of my site, all new items added since that time are affected. I assumed it was user error on the part of the business owner who has been uploading all new item images since the site was launched. However, she reached out to me today, and I am having the same issues with the "additional" images displaying incorrectly when I try uploading a new product.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Oh, no! Yes, it definitely sounds like the issue is still ongoing. Smiley Sad It is affecting users that have Weebly sites made through a third party hosting company. I'll add your information to the bug so that the engineers are aware that this may be more wide-spread (affecting more hosts) than they initially thought.

@Bernadette has any progress been made on a fix for this bug?? I am still experiencing issues with poor image quality and multiple thumbnails displaying for additional items in my client's store.

However, now the "main" images for all newly uploaded items are also displaying severely pixelated. Here are some examples that were uploaded in the last 48hrs:

https://therefinedboutique.com/store/p123/Lainey%27s_Sage_Lounge_Set.html

https://therefinedboutique.com/store/p129/Keep_It_Simple_Ivory_Leather_Earring.html

https://therefinedboutique.com/store/p125/Don%27t_Be_So_Jaded_Tassel_Earring.html

This is a significant issue for my client, as she is dependant on item images to sell her merchandise. Please advise.

Thanks,

Bridgette

What size are your original images, @bridgette? That's some pretty extreme pixelation and definitely seems broken in some way if your images are larger than something like say, 800 by 800.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem. It only started last Saturday. Before that time I never experienced it.

Did you find a solution yet? It only happens to shop product images. The rest is ok.
