I published my website and all was fine. Except resently, I was shocked to find that all my photos
with links to Youtube videos have become downloads for SWF files. Anyone?

I don't see that they became SWF files. The YouTube links are working for me when I click on the images.

There is 9 links on the page - as an example ....
I see 6 go to .swf files, 1 to the correct video, 2 to a .jpg.!
I think it's the formatting of the links. Try changing them to this format:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXXXXXXXXX&rel=0&autoplay=1
