Weebly eCommerce: Feature Updates

Hello all! Welcome to eCommerce Week. Today let’s take a look at the new features and updates that have launched recently. Don’t forget, tomorrow we’ll have a Q&A with Jaclyn Konzelmann, eCommerce Group Product Manager, live at 9am PDT to talk about the product, decision-making and what goes into building out an eCommerce platform.

What’s New:

  • Product and Category Elements: Gives you more flexibility to create an engaging storefront with intuitive new ways to display products and categories. Available for all paid plans.
  • Improved Shipping Rules: Makes shipping rate management easy for stores with a large number of orders. Set shipping rates based on order specifications from the store dashboard. Available with the Business plan.
  • Automatic Tax Calculator: Does the heavy lifting on tax management, helping you handle store taxes with minimal headache. This feature is available for businesses in the United States shipping domestically and available with the Business Plan.
  • In addition: the updated eCommerce engine also includes branded store emails, new store checkout, redesigned store tab, streamlined store management and improved order management features, all included with all paid plans.

New for the Performance Plan:

  • Real Time Shipping: Determine shipping rates dynamically based on order content and shipping address. The best way to handle shipping without spending time manually setting shipping rates for each order scenario.
  • Abandoned Cart Recovery: Send an automated email to customers who drop out of checkout after a certain amount of time. Gives you a valuable opportunity to win back sales which may otherwise be lost.
  • Gift Card System: Create and sell branded digital gift cards on your site, a new way to increase sales and entice new purchases.  
  • Email Marketing: Sell more with built in marketing that makes it easy to keep customers coming back. Includes the Weebly Promote Build plan.

Would it make sense to submit questions ahead of time so they answers will be readily available?  Without having any idea what the questions will be, there is a great chance of the "we will get back to you" scenario happening.  I am sure I am not the only one who is getting tired of waiting for answers and/or solutions.

Just a thought.

Will real time shipping work in the UK?

At this time Real Time Shipping is limitted to Canada, Mexico and the US. We are working with a 3rd party provider for this service and so are limited to the areas that they support. We definitely want to expand this functionality, though. We are still looking into whether this would involve finding a local service provider to integrate with, or if the one we are currently using continues to expand, following suit with them.

Hi Riah

I have put a question through support, but I will raise it here for the community. 

What has happened to the "notes to seller"? A very vital part of online sales - as buyer needs to communicate with seller.  And specifically fundamental to my customer det-up as a way to specify delivery dates.

Response to my own concern. "Notes to seller" was moved. User has to go to "make payment" and the option is there. Not obvious to customer - which raised the initial concern. But at least it is there - and allows delivery set ups; messages etc to be communicated. (Phew...)

Will you ever get a store widget so you can embed a product / cart in other website lie Shopify or Ecwid? Really useful for working with others who might promote my products.

If you did I might upgrade to Weebly ecommerce.
