The sales category on the phone app isn't showing any transactions when I go to reports--> sales. Individual sales ares showing up in the transactions.

Try going to Reports > Sales > Customize Reports facility (the three horizontal lines in the upper right hand corner of the screen) and make sure that the This Device Only switch is toggled off or else you're looking at only sales you've processed on that one device.  Obviously this will only make a difference if you're processing sales on more than the one device.
