I want to have a yard sale and use a reader to attach to my cell phone to take payments from credit cards. I was recommended here by a professional in another field because it is good for a 1 time use. Thanks!

Square will work just fine for a yard sale. create your account and get your bank account linked to your deposits and you should be good to go. check out the article I linked below for getting started tips.

I have a square account I use for occasional trade shows but I want to use for a yard sale and go to a different bank account. Can I set up my card reader on a different app (such as on my husband’s phone) and use the same reader?

the reader is a "dumb" device meaning it doesn't care what account it is on.
two options:
the easiest thing to do would be to create a second location on your current account. each location can have its own bank account.
the second option is a whole new account with the new bank account.
We got it for one thing several years ago, you can use it to sell anything via credit card and it’s super easy to set up an account.
