Is there a way to import UPC codes into items?

I want to import my inventory into Square, but I use UPC codes.  Is there a way to bring those over into Square?

You can definitely bulk import your inventory and items, including your UPC numbers, into your Square Account. In our system and in our import template, this is listed as the SKU number.

You can read how to bulk import your items in this Support Center article here.

Good news for those of you who are set up with Square for Retail and Square for Retail Plus: You can now upload both UPC and SKU values to the Item Library using the GTIN field.

For an illustration and step-by-steps on how it works, check out our Support Center: Using GTINs with Square for Retail.

The process on Point of Sale is still the same, though I hope this update on Retail helps simplify your workflow!

SKU and BARCODES Arre NOT the same thing. Tired of your misunderstanding of the way retail works.

It is my understanding that while you can use the GTIN field for a bar code and SKU for a shortened unique code, the Square Retail Terminal hardware and Square Retail Plus service does not actually read the GTIN when using a barcode scanner, correct?

Also, the iPad version will read the GTIN database field with a supported barcode scanner, correct?

If this information is still correct (as stated in the online help files), when will the Square Retail Terminal hardware support barcode scanning with the GTIN field to preserve the SKU infomration?  It's a bummer having to put the barcode infomration into the SKU field . . .

Hey @HeroinesHeroes

Welcome to the Seller Community!

Little confused by your first question here. While at this time, you can only print one type of barcode per product label, either GTIN or SKU, should you choose to print the GTIN barcode label, the scanner will read that barcode. Is that what you're asking?

GTINs are not supported with Square Terminal at this time, but if you're using an iPad and a compatible barcode scanner, you will be able to scan a barcode.

I'm basing this off of the information in this Support Center article. If you want to come back with some specific questions about the process, I am happy to ask our Square for Retail product specialists. Let me know!
