Last week our Square Reader started burning at the inner connector while plugged in to its base. Staffer noticed the smell and figured it was coming from there and took it out immediately. We rarely take the reader off the base only to re-pair it about once a month so we assumed it was safe in there so we were in shock when that occurred.
