Surprise gift + automatic receipts = unhappy customer. Any options for verification b4 sending?

We too have had issues like this.  You can call and have them turn off auto email receipts on your account and then it will always bring up the receipt screen and you can choose what to do.

 

Also, the individual customer can manage their email receipt preferences by clicking a link on the bottom of an emailed receipt.
