Hey @mod-market150  - The Loading Gift Card Process changed a few years ago - there's a built in Gift Card Item, so you don't have to worry about creating gift card items.

You can set up default amounts through this link on your dashboard:

https://squareup.com/dashboard/gift-cards/settings

Then when it's time to Load a Gift Card, you would just tap on the Pre-made Gift Card Item in your item list, and follow the directions!

Thanks so much for your reply!  I can not locate a gift card item on my register screen so I added it as an item. I am clicking the "hamburger" menu on the bottom left of the register screen, then "items" and gift card does not appear automatically. I used the link you included in your reply and that screen looks like it's setup properly but it's not communicating with the register as far as I can tell

Rather than going into the Menu and then Items (that's where you edit items), just tap on the button in the bottom center of the screen that looks like a list - that's your Items List (that you can ring up items from).

You can also add that Gift Card item to your Grid for easy access.

Great Question.

If a customer purchases a gift card from you the funds would come from their account as if they were making the purchase of a good. You sell the gift cards for the amount that will be loaded on the gift card.
