barcode scanner not working with register

We recieved the new Register Yesterday, and are running Square Restaurants on it.  I also purchased a USB barcode scanner, and It works on my laptop, but when I plug it into the register it says Barcode scanner connected, but does nothing when an item is scanned.  Am I missing something?

A few things to try :

 

  • Make sure the SKUs entered for your items match the barcode label. 
  • Reset your scanner. (The same steps apply for the Register)
  • Check if the Register has an available update under Settings > General > About Register. If the software is up to date, try a factory reset
