Block Clients

We really need the ability to block certain clients from scheduling.  No just declining them. There are those finding ways around the decline by utilizing another email address etc. Thank you

Re: Block Clients

This forum doesn't seem to work getting this feature to the proper channels. It for the customer to feel like they are getting some where but they are not. Maybe start to go to twitter and call them out because at this point Square has shown that they are NOT for solo practitioners and their safety! It has been YEARS of this now. YEARS!!! 35 pages of this request up to this point.  Look into GlossGenius for booking if you are a esthetician or massage therapist.

Re: Block Clients

Agreed! This has been one of the features missing. I used to use an online booking system that allowed you to toggle or “turn off” booking ability for that client specifically. I typically don’t have an issue with clients booking online but when they are not a fit with my business anymore and can’t respect my time, it’s necessary. This is a feature that is needed, regardless of no show protection being in place.

Re: Block Clients - Status changed to: Has Product Insight

Hi all 👋 Apologies for the delayed response here but I have returned with some insight from the Square Appointments Product Team! I'll share what they've told me below:

"We don’t have a specific feature for this yet but it’s on our roadmap this year. H
owever, many of our Appointments Sellers are already enrolled in Risk Manager, and can use the Risk Manager’s “Block payment cards” feature to block buyers from booking if the Seller has prepayment or no-show turned on. Unfortunately, there isn’t a good way to block clients from booking if the Seller doesn’t use prepayment or no-show, but this is on our radar for this year."

To learn more about how feature requests work, please see this post from one of our Seller Community Moderators. In the meantime, keep an eye out for any updates, here, in our Seller Community. We appreciate your input! 🙂

Re: Appointments feature request: Block Clients

Hi @mikethebarber

Nothing new to report on this at the moment, but it seems to be gaining more interest lately so hopefully we can figure out a way to help with situations like this.

One workaround that you can use would be to switch the Reservation Guarantee in your Appointments Settings to "Business must accept or decline all appointment requests".

This allows you to have more control over who actually books up time slots on your calendar.

Re: Appointments feature request: Block Clients

Hey there @UrbanShaveSD

Thanks for sharing this feedback. I can totally see where this feature would be useful for difficult clients and I'll share your feedback with the Appointments team. I've moved this to the Feature Request board where we can track this request.

Hello, we manage a large clientele and we’re just wondering if this is now an available feature.

This is something that NEEDS to happen. FOR SAFETY SQUARE!!!!

My business is a bra fitting store. Unfortunately this type of business leads to lots of creeps calling. With various levels of creep. Up to and including having to get police involved.  It is what it is.

I network with a NUMBER of other bra stores around the country. The SAME creeps call all of us. I’ve blocked their number from calling my store. Unfortunately they have now resorted to booking appointments.

And NOW SQUARE TURNED OFF THE CC BOOKING PROTECTION FEATURE!!!!
Which means there is nothing to stop them booking. and booking. And booking.

yes I have the ‘approval’ turned on so I have to actually approve the appointment. But I shouldn’t have to deny DOZENS OF APPOINTMENT REQUESTS. Also, in the ‘cancel culture’ world we live in, I am also running the risk of retaliation on that front.

THIS IS SUCH AN EASY THING TO IMPLEMENT. FIX THIS SQUARE!

Your favorite thing to say is always ‘we’ll forward this on to our product team as a feature request’.

EASY things. I am still waiting for a line item variable dollar discount…..

I bet you also have some creeps you’d like to ban as well. (Lingerie store here.) once they removed the CC feature, the creeps started booking. Just to book. And not show. Waste of time. And money. And also, not safe.

This situation totally sucks, but there is still a CC feature. It’s just not available on the free version. You’d have to pay a monthly fee to get that option back.

I know! and it sucks. I don’t take that many appointments to start with (have usual open hours. But use appointments like one would a reservation in a restaurant. You get to ‘cut the line’ if there’s a lot of walkins.)

I also use them to offer some after hours appointments. We used to be open until 7 twice a week. 5pm the rest of the days. But I decided it was smarter to make those hours by appointment for those who need it.

nothing **bleep**es me off more then when someone schedules a 6:30 and then doesn’t show up. Like they’ve had MULTIPLE text and email reminders. Have the decency to call…

id love to be able to block those people from scheduling off hours appointments.

but the (what is it $20/month?) to have that feature back would be a net negative as I would only make maybe $60/year from it. 😔

So I'm curious - For all of you asking for this feature how would it work 100%?

I mean look at it from the developer standpoint, the most they can do it block CC , Phone Number, or email.  That's about it without requiring photo identification.   The person can just use different info.

And are you not going to get slammed with 1 star reviews when you just block clients out of the blue without communicating that with them? I feel people would be more vindictive after being blocked - People are about 3 foot taller behind the keyboard.

We've had to "soft fire" maybe 3 out of 1500 clients. And have "the talk" about how expensive it is to run a business and how we cant have them wasting our time with about 20.    They either get the message and stop behaving badly or they move on.

I cant imagine flat out firing and blocking a client and it not going over without some  (a lot) of blowback.

Blocking CC, phone number and email would be extemely helpful.

I am not concerned at all with getting 1 star reviews if clients have been awful enough for it to get to the point we need to block them. Even when I have communicated that they were no longer welcome in our space, we have gotten 1 star reviews about it. It's the cost of taking care of yourself and your employees 🤷‍♀️

@Innerglo it’s my business and am allowed to filter and decide who to allow into my space and business. If someone can’t respect my boundaries and policies, I have no problem “blocking” them from having access to my schedule. Possibly (if they are blocked), it could be for a multitude of reasons, but let’s say chronic no show or cancellations. I could still get 1 Star review/rating or horrible reviews if I charged them a no show fee/late cancellation fee, despite their reasons or excuses. They agreed to the terms and conditions when booking an appointment. It would be a choice to have the block option enabled.  Just like the choice to have a card on file for booking or even for those people who enable prepayment for services.  Every business owner has the right to refuse services, regardless of what that might have as an impact on the businesses reputation. Does that make sense? Sometimes, it may not be that I’m truly blocking someone from being a client/customer of mine. It may be I’ve communicated that I would prefer they contact me the day of to see if I can accommodate them, rather than them booking and canceling last minute because they don’t know how to manage their time and I’m the short end of the stick, sitting empty and unpaid. This definitely isn’t a regular issue for me, just an option I’ve had to use before and would like to have again.
